The finest weave in the collection, closer to mesh than lattice, worked into a strapless corset over a sequinned underlay that flashes teal and pink through the straw. The skirt is draped corded lace with a rosette at the hip. It falls to a train.

Paja toquilla is the straw of the Ecuadorian coast, split from the young leaves of the toquilla palm and woven by hand in the towns around Montecristi. The same fibre has been worked there for generations into the finest hats in the world. GALAP sets it into cloth. Each panel is woven to the shape of the garment it will join, then cut and sewn in our New York atelier. No two weaves are identical; the variation is the signature of the hand.
