Teal silk charmeuse with a bustier of wide open-lattice straw laid over gold metallic tulle, so the gold reads through the weave. The edge is scalloped and finished in gold cord. A godet of the same tulle fans into the train.

Paja toquilla is the straw of the Ecuadorian coast, split from the young leaves of the toquilla palm and woven by hand in the towns around Montecristi. The same fibre has been worked there for generations into the finest hats in the world. GALAP sets it into cloth. Each panel is woven to the shape of the garment it will join, then cut and sewn in our New York atelier. No two weaves are identical; the variation is the signature of the hand.
